Play #47 -- A Midsummer Night's Dream, National Theatre at Home, July 1

So, we saw this show at a movie theater in Florence last October, when NT Live was still a thing.  (See "Noteworthy addition" awhile back.)  But we didn't count it because it wasn't "live" theater.

But once Covid-19 hit and we started seeing -- and counting -- virtual theater towards our goal of 50 in 50, we were super excited to see this show again, from the comfort of our own home.

It was no less hilarious this time around. Bottom (played by Hammed Animashaun, also in Barbershop Chronicles) was so outrageously funny. The fairies are constantly doing breathtaking acrobatics.  The flip-flopping of roles between Oberon and Titania means that it's not the usual one who becomes "enamored of an ass."  And the nectar of the magical flower that Puck puts in the young lovers' eyes causes a little more mayhem than usual.

Not to be missed!!

We were so entranced by the magic of the play that we didn't even see this little friend wandering around our front lawn, munching at our plum trees!
