On our way home following the wonderful trip to Pacific City (see Pub #33), we wanted to visit another pub for lunch. We were eyeing one in Gleneden Beach that we'd never been to, but it wasn't open on Tuesdays. So we "settled" for Rusty Truck Brewing in Lincoln City.
I say "settled" because in our only past experience there, I was particularly unimpressed when the tasty-sounding brown ale I ordered came in a *frosty* mug! Those of you who know me will know that this is very possibly the worst thing a brewpub can do, unless their goal is to leave no doubt that they are total hacks who don't know how to present a beer at its highest quality. A full-bodied, malty beer needs to be non-refrigerated to have its full flavor potential shine. In my opinion...
But we gave them another shot, figuring if they'd stuck around this long, they must not have alienated all the craft beer drinkers on the coast. I'm glad we did.
We got a flight of 8 this time, since they had so many good sounding non-IPAs on tap. Beach Blonde Ale, Taft Toffee Porter, Fender Bender Amber, Low Rider Lager, Strawberry Disco, Cherry Chocoholic Porter (x2), and Moonlight Ride Blackberry Ale. With a tasty pizza, good beer, and a sunny day at the coast, lunch on the porch of Rusty Truck Brewing redeemed this pub for me.
